The bookcase headboards offer handy shelving right by your head, but they can also be reversed and placed on the outside of the bunk bed to provide access from the exterior. Thick framing on the headboard and footboard coordinate with the other pieces in Lea's Elite Expressions collection. The slat roll mattress support system is made up of evenly spaced wooden slats that run the whole length of the bed. No box springs or bunkie boards are required, as this system provides all the support your mattresses will need. The bunks will accommodate mattresses measuring up to 11 inches thick.

If you want to add extra storage to this bunk bed, you can order the optional underbed drawer storage unit or the dual function trundle/storage unit. The underbed drawer storage unit consists of two open shelves and two smooth-gliding drawers. The drawers feature heavy drawer front frames, which act as handles and create a subtle, geometric design. These shelves and drawers will help your or your children keep things tidy in the bedroom. The dual function trundle/storage unit can be used as a large storage drawer divided into adjustable sections, or as an open frame for a trundle mattress.

Drawer parts are hand-sanded and finished with a stained, protective top coat to create a smooth, snag-free interior. Drawer bottoms are reinforced by corner blocks and center rails for greater stability.

The drawers operate smoothly on full-extension drawer guides with steel ball bearings that provide easy, one-handed operation and greater drawer stability than standard center-mounted drawer guides.
